Evans does not deserve pardon
The Ogun State Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Edison Daminabo yesterday said that Nigeria urgently needs divine intervention to end the kidnapping and other vices plaguing the country.

Describing the menace as insanity, he condemned calls for the pardon of kidnap kingpin, Chikwudubem Onwuamadike, also known as Evans by some of his sympathisers, including his wife, stressing that having been arrested, Evans must be allowed to face the full weight of the law.

“The Church will continue to pray for the nation until sanity returns and Nigeria is rid of evil. What is happening in Nigeria today is not ordinary. We need divine intervention to stop the insanity,” he said.

Since his arrest, there have been calls, especially on the Social Media by his sympathisers, including family members for the Federal Government to release him in exchange for the forfeiture of his multi-million property.

But the cleric warned against plea-bargaining, which in his view, would amount to “selective justice and nepotism,” saying the law should apply to everyone.

He spoke at a press conference in Abeokuta ahead of the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi’s visit for a crusade with the theme: “Mid-Year Raid in Remoland.”

The crusade holds on Friday June 30 at Remo Divisional High School in Sagamu.

“The Bible supports the law and the law is clear on issues like this. The Scriptures allows the law to take its cause. In this case, we should allow the law to have its way.

“What does the law say about the Evans case? Let the law apply to him and not selective justice. The Church of Deeper Life is supportive of the Rule of Law,” Daminabo said.

He also lamented that politics in Nigeria has been hijacked by riff-raffs and called on Christians to be actively involved in the process of electing their leaders in future.

The cleric noted that recent discoveries of looted funds by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was evidence that God “is already exposing and dealing with corrupt leaders.”
