Chief Operating Officer, MTN Nigeria, Muhammad Zia Siddiqu, has called on Nigerian students to acquaint themselves with the firm’s educational support programme and tap the immense benefits therein.
Siddiqu who led a team of MTN delegation to University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), for the company’s “Voice of the Customer,” programme, stressed that the country’s socio-economic growth is hinged on a strong educational foundation and students must be made to comprehend that accordingly.
Reminding them that a lot of opportunities await them in the MTN Foundation’s educational project, he charged the students to in addition adopt the culture of hard work in order to fulfill their potential.
He said the visit is in furtherance of its commitment to engaging directly with its customers under “Voice of the Customer,” initiative, as it offers the firm opportunity to get feedback from their customers.
Assuring the students of the company’s support towards their wellbeing, he added, “We have made huge impactful interventions in tertiary institutions across the country through the MTN Foundation scholarships, the donation of digital libraries, among others. Our visit also was a demonstration of the premium the company places on Nigerian students, avail yourselves of the opportunities and work hard to achieve your potentials.”
In his response, the Financial Secretary of the Students’ Union Government of the institution, Bankole Ariyo, expressed delight at the presence of the telecommunication firm’s delegation, noting that the engagement will provide a platform for the company to connect with UniAbuja students.
“We commend MTN for visiting us because it is an opportunity to interface with students of the university to understand how they can serve us better. This shows that they cares about the plight of students”.
Miss Chidinma Onuoha, a graduate of the University of Abuja and beneficiary of the MTN Foundation scholarship, who was also present at the forum, expressed gratitude to the company for making her dream come through. “I want to thank MTN for helping me realise my vision through their interventions in tertiary institutions. Today, I am a graduate of Accounting from this university thanks to the MTN Foundation.”
